Technical Assistance: The licensing counselor discussed with the provider the requirement that a copy of the DCF email confirming an individuals eligibility for provisional hire must be maintained in the personnel file until the individual receives final eligibility clearance through the Background Screening Clearinghouse. The provider was advised that documentation serves as verification that the employee was approved to begin work under supervision while awaiting final clearance. Child care personnel failed to immediately contact emergency services and the child's custodial parents or legal guardians in the event of a serious illness, accident, injury or emergency to their child. CCF Handbook, Section 6.3, B & C and 2.5.3, E Comments: For life threatening injuries, the provider shall call 911 and then notify the parent. Custodial parents or legal guardians must be notified immediately if the event of any , injury or emergency to their child, and their specific instructions regarding action to be taken under such circumstances must be obtained and followed. Child care personnel shall notify parents/guardians immediately of any suspected allergic reactions, as well as the ingestion of or contact with the problem allergen even if a reaction did not occur.
