11. Child Discipline CCF Handbook, Section 2.8 (11-05)
A form of discipline used by child care personnel was associated with food, rest and/or toileting. CCF Handbook, Section 2.8, A and s.402.305 (12), F.S. Comments: Licensing observed on a video footage that the staff took a plate of food away despite the child's insistence in keeping it. The staff pulled the child's finger off the plate and threw the food in the trash can. The child seemed to be crying by the trash can. The staff was waiting for two other children to finish their food. After they finished 6 minutes later, the staff gave another tortilla to the child. TA was provided: 2.8 Child Discipline A. The childcare facility shall adopt a discipline policy consistent with Section 402.305(12), F.S., including standards that prohibit children from being subjected to discipline, which is severe, humiliating, frightening, or associated with food, rest, or toileting.
