CCF Handbook, Section 3.5, A (Section 2.1 Health and Safety, Page 3) Physical Environment [SR] Comments: Specialist observed that wooden structured needs wooden boards replaced and nails and screws removed and fixed. Needs to be maintained and cleaned off before children use playground. Trees need to be trimmed over wooden structure and around playground out of reach to children to pull on. Per childcare facility handbook on page 24. The outdoor play area must be clean and free from litter, nails, glass and other hazards. Child care personnel did not complete preservice training requirements prior to unsupervised contact with or care of children or, if supervised, within 90 days of beginning employment or service with the provider. (Section 3.1 and 3.2 Training Requirements, Page 7) [SR] Comments: Specialist reviewed that 2 employees havent completed the school readiness training within the 90 days. Per the school readiness handbook on page 9. 3.1 Preservice Child care personnel must successfully complete the preservice training coursework described in this section, as applicable. All child care personnel must complete these preservice training requirements within 90 days of initial employment with any School Readiness provider. This timeframe does not start over if personnel change employment to another School Readiness provider within this initial 90 days. Personnel who have not completed all preservice training requirements are not allowed any unsupervised contact with or care of children in a School Readiness program. b. After January 1, 2024, the DEL-approved online School Readiness health and safety courses as evidenced by successful completion of the examination at the end of the modules with a weighted score of 70 or better. The facility did not have documentation to show child care personnel had begun the introductory training within 90 days of employment in the child care industry. CCF Handbook, Section 4.1 Comments: Specialist reviewed that a staff member has not started the 40 hours within the time frame. The staff member has until 3/11/26 to start classes. All hours need to be completed by 12/1/26 including Early Literacy. Per Child care facility handbook on page 39. 4.1 Beginning Training Child care personnel including volunteers who work 10 hours or more per month must begin training within 90 days of employment in the child care industry and successfully complete Departments training within 12 months from the date training begins. The written record of the fire drills was incomplete and did not include the following:[August, September, October fire drills]. CCF Handbook, Section 3.8.4, C Physical Environment [SR] Comments: Specialist observed that the fire drill log did not have drills for the months of August, September, or October recorded. Provider stated they did do the drills but did not add them to the log. Provider will add the dates and times to the log and send to specialist. In the Childcare facility handbook on page 28. The operator must maintain a written record of the fire drills showing the date, number of children and child care personnel in attendance, evacuation route used, and time taken for all individuals to evacuate the premises. Each fire drill record must be maintained for a minimum of 12 months from the date of the fire drill. The fire drills conducted must include, at a minimum: 1. One fire drill using an alternate evacuation route, 2. One fire drill during napping/sleeping times, and 3. One fire drill in the presence and at the request of the licensing authority.
