20. Crib Requirements CCF Handbook, Section 3.6 (20-06)
Child/ren were placed in a crib, playpen, play yard or other sleeping and napping bedding with items that could pose a strangulation or suffocation risk. CCF Handbook, Section 3.6.4, A Physical Environment [SR] Comments: Licensing specialist observed crib mattress covers were loose fitting and not appropriate for infant children. Provider ordered the appropriate bedding at time of inspection. 3.6.4 Safe Sleep A. All personnel that care for infants must follow safe sleep practices as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) as referenced in Caring for Our Children Basics Health and Safety Foundations for Early Caremand Education, which is incorporated by reference in 65C- 22.001(7)(v), F.A.C. Cribs or playpens/play yards used for infants must have tight fitted sheets and no excess bedding, which includes but is not limited to: bumper pads, hanging mobiles, quilts, comforters, receiving blankets, pillows, stuffed animals and cushions. The play equipment was not maintained in a safe or sanitary condition for the children to use in that [stationary metal equipment (red airplane & red dome climbing structures) had peeling paint]. CCF Handbook, Section 3.12, B and F Sanitation and Equipment [SR] Comments: Licensing specialist observed stationary metal equipment (red airplane & red dome climbing structures) had peeling paint. Provider removed at time of inspection. 3.12 Outdoor Equipment B. All playground equipment must be securely anchored, unless portable or stationary by design, in good repair, maintained in safe and sanitary condition, and placed to ensure safe use by the children. Maintenance must include inspections conducted every month of all supports above and below the ground and of all connectors and moving parts. Documentation of maintenance inspections must be maintained for 12 months. F. All equipment used in the outdoor play area must be constructed and maintained according to manufacturers recommendations and allow for water drainage. Any open containers with water must be emptied immediately after use, i.e. pots, toys, or other equipment that collects water. TRAINING Compliance Comments Training requirements are up to date.
