    The facility failed to report a suspected communicable disease outbreak for two or more children or adults within 72 hours to the local county health department and failed to follow directions given. CCF Handbook, Section 6.1.2, B Health Requirements [SR] Comments: Facility did not report a suspected communicable disease outbreak for two children in the infant room. Director stated that she was not aware of reporting any communicable disease to the county health department. Specialist give technical assistant: Outbreaks A. Operators are required to notify the local county health department immediately upon any suspected outbreak of communicable disease and must follow the health departments direction. B. A suspected outbreak occurs when two or more children or child care personnel have the onset of similar signs or symptoms within a 72-hour period or when a case of a serious or reportable communicable disease is diagnosed or suspected in a child or employee. Some examples include shigella, salmonella, chicken pox, measles, pertussis, and hand, foot and mouth disease. Contact your local health department for a determination of whether reporting is required. Facility is required to attend Health and Nutrition in the School Readiness Program (4-hour/0.4 CEUs: Online) The goal of the Health and Nutrition in the School Readiness Program course is to help early childhood educators, families and other caregivers keep children healthy by preventing the spread of infectious diseases, reducing the occurrence of allergies and administering necessary medication. The course will also help provide understanding of the benefits of proper nutrition and physical activity for children from all age groups. This is one of the courses that meets the health and safety requirements for School Readiness Programs.
