All childcare facilities must be clean, in good repair, free from health and safety hazards and from evidence of, or presence of, vermin infestation. Indoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety and documented on a daily inspection log. Outdoor play areas must be inspected daily for basic health and safety. Any problems must be corrected before the play area is used by children. Documentation of the indoor play area inspection must be maintained for 12 months. (Page 20 LS observed a hole in wall stuffed with paper towels at children level that needs to be repaired. Photos were taken. Corrective action due. See supplemental. 13. Child/ren were placed in a crib, playpen, play yard or other sleeping and napping bedding with items that could pose a strangulation or suffocation risk. CCF Handbook, Section 3.6.4, A (Section 2.1 Health and Safety, Page 3) Physical Environment [SR] Comments: LS observed (2) Children were left in highchairs or other confining devices outside of feeding times. CCF Handbook, Section 2.4.4, B (Section 2.1 - Health and Safety, Page 3) Per CCF handbook, section 2.4.4, Infants must be held for bottle feedings until they are developmentally ready to sit in an age appropriate chair with good head control. Children must not be left in highchairs or other types of feeding chairs other than during feeding times. The use of safety straps is required to prevent children from falling out of the highchair. LS observed (2) infants sleeping in confining devices with blankets. Corrected at time of inspection. LS gave technical assistance and teachers removed infants from chairs and placed in cribs.
