A ratio of [2] child care personnel for [9] children is required. A ratio of [1] child care personnel for [9] children was observed. s.402.305(4), F.S. General Requirements [SR] Comments: Licensing counselor observed 1:9 ratio with children aged one year old- three years old. There should have been a 2:9 ratio due to the one-year-old being in the classroom. The Provider will ensure staff to child ratios are maintained at all times. Supervision of children in the [one year old ] group was inadequate in that [childcare personnel was not present in the classroom]. CCF Handbook, Section 2.4 General Requirements [SR] Comments: Licensing observed three one year old children in the classroom alone. The half door between the one-year-old and three-year-old classroom was open. Per childcare personnel the three-year-old teacher was watching both classrooms. Childcare personnel returned to the one-year-old classroom to resolve the noncompliance. Nap time supervision requirements discussed with the one-year-old teacher. Per DCF Handbook: 2.4 Supervision 2.4.1 General Supervision Requirements. B. Child care personnel must be assigned to provide direct supervision to a specific group of children and be with that group of children at all times. Children must never be left without child care personnel supervision inside or outside the facility, in a vehicle, or at a field trip location. 2.4.2 Nap time Supervision During nap time, child care personnel must be within sight and hearing of all the children. All other child care personnel required to meet the staff-to-child ratio must be within the building on the same floor and available to be summoned if needed to ensure the safety of the children.
