Ensure diapers are disposed of in a trashcan that has been lined with a plastic bag. The foot-activated trashcan used for diapers was observed full of diapers but was not lined with a plastic bag.

Ensure the kitchen, food prep, serving areas, appliances, and utensils are clean and sanitary. The kitchen counters need to be cleaned. An unplugged crockpot was observed full of leftover food on the kitchen counter. An unclean spoon was observed next to the crockpot. Ensure food is clean stored properly. A frozen waffle was observed on the counter, two waffles were observed in the toaster, and the remaining waffles in the packaging were observed unfrozen on the kitchen counter. Ensure the freezer is at 0 degrees F or colder. The thermometer for the freezer read 1 degree F and 2 degrees F.

30P — Fire Safety

Ensure the fire extinguisher is inspected and tagged annually.

Ensure electrical outlets are covered. Ensure an electrical inspection is conducted by an approved agency every three years.

Ensure child files are complete. Four children need a health appraisal. Two children need an immunization record. One child needs blood lead screening.

Store routine cleaning supplies out of children's reach. Bathroom cleaner was observed under an unlocked cabinet in the bathroom. This was corrected when the cleaner was removed.

Ensure single-use towels are available at all times for hand washing. This specialist observed labeled hand towels draped over the bath tub. When asked, the provider stated the children use the fabric hand towels to dry their hands. This was discussed with the provider and corrected when she supplied the bathroom with paper towels.

35P — Sleeping Accommodations and Safe Sleep Environments

Store nap equipment so they are not touching one another or clean and sanitize daily. The nap mats were observed stacked on top of each other. This was discussed with the provider and corrected when she agreed to store them not touching.

31P — Kitchen and Food Preparation

Ensure food is stored properly. This specialist observed leftover food not properly covered or labeled in the refrigerator.

22P — Children's Files

Ensure child files are complete. One child needs a health appraisal and blood lead screening results. One child needs parents right to know and screen time permission.

Post the emergency substitute's information. This was corrected when the provider documented the substitute's information and posted it.
