7 AAC 57.310(c)(4) - Qualifications and responsibilities of employees and other individuals in a child care facility.

While children may not have fully understood the intention of having their names written on the board, they did demonstrate awareness that when someone's name was written on the board, it was because that child was 'bad'. Most children of this age are not reading but they are aware of whose names were on the board and that it was for negative reasons. This type of disciplinary approach does not support children with positive guidance or set clear and consistent limits that promote children's ability for self-discipline but rather sets a tone that singles out specific children. AMC 16.55.190A. - Program in child care facilities.

In one classroom structure and daily activities are not provided that promote a child's individual physical, social, intellectual, and emotional development and positive identity. Observations in the classroom include; children throwing books, children were running around classroom and yelling while caregiver is trying to conduct a group activity; and children were hitting each other. Regulation: The provisions of 7 AAC 57.520 are adopted and incorporated by reference as supplemented by this section as follows: A child care facility shall provide structure and daily activities designed to promote a child's individual physical, social, intellectual, and emotional development and positive identity. 7 AAC 10.1070(c)(5) - Medications.

An allergy medication stored in a classroom states "Do not use unless directed by a doctor", and there is no direction from a doctor. Regulation: Except as provided in (d) and (g)(4) of this section, an entity subject to this section shall ensure that nonprescription medications and health products, including nonaspirin fever reducers, naturopathic remedies, vitamin and mineral supplements, diaper ointments and powders, sunscreen, and insect repellent, are used only at the dose, duration, or method of administration specified on the manufacturer's label. 7 AAC 10.1070(g)(5)(A) - Medications.

An epi-pen stored in classroom did not include the original container, and was expired. Regulation: An entity authorized to administer medication may do so only under the following conditions: prescription medicine must be kept in the original container showing the date filled, the expiration date, instructions, and the physician's or other medical professional's name; or Cited at a announced Renewal inspection. AMC 16.55.210A.1. - Health in child care facilities.

Of the 10 children's records reviewed, one child did not have a physical within the last year. 7 AAC 57.350(b) - Orientation and Training

One caregiver did not complete the required training within the first three months of employment.
