746.1201(1) - Responsibilities of Employees and Caregivers -Demonstrate Competency, Good Judgment, Self-control

During the investigation, this minimum standard was found deficient. Information gathered through interviews and documentation determined that a caregiver lifted a child by one arm/hand, resulting in a nursemaid?s elbow injury while the child was in care. The caregiver?s actions did not demonstrate appropriate judgment in ensuring the child?s safety and well-being

746.1205(a)(4) - Supervision ensures each child?s safety, well-being, including physical proximity and auditory or visual awareness of each child?s on going activity

One child was observed to be unattended in a hallway during the inspection. The child was taken back to their classroom by the director.

746.3407(12) - Mark Cleaning Supplies, Toxic Materials; Keep Separate from Food and Inaccessible to Children

One classroom was observed to have toilet cleaner in an unlocked cabinet accessible to children in the classroom. The cleaning products were moved to another location during the the inspection.

There was sufficient evidence found during the DFPS investigation to show that good judgement was not used when one staff member used a crib to transport toddler aged children to another classroom for non-emergency purposes.

746.1205(a)(4) - Supervision ensures each child?s safety, well-being, including physical proximity and auditory or visual awareness of each child?s on going activity

There was sufficient evidence found during the DFPS investigation to show that adequate supervision was not provided when a toddler aged child fell out of a crib.

746.3421(b) - Infant Handwashing - Raised to Sink

Classrooms were observed not raising children to the sink to wash hands with soap and water.
