One caregiver completed CPR through an on-line course which did not allow them to practice their skills on a manikin.

746.2805(3) - Prohibited Punishments - Grabbing and Pulling

It was determined that a caregiver used prohibited punishment when disciplining a child in care. A video recording captured the caregiver aggressively grabbing and pulling a child by their arms multiple times, an action that resulted in bruising on the child?s right upper arm and left lower arm. The video recording also captured the caregiver grabbing the child's leg, which caused the child to fall backward. (Note: The caregiver is no longer employed).

746.2805(5) - Prohibited Punishments - Humiliating, Rejecting, Yelling

It was found that a caregiver yelled at a child during an altercation with another child. Additionally, the caregiver has a pattern of yelling at children when frustrated.

746.2803(4)(C) - Positive Methods of Discipline and Guidance - Redirecting Behavior

Video footage showed a caregiver failing to implement positive redirection strategies with the children. Video footage shows that the caregiver failed to appropriately intervene and redirect children during an altercation. The footage shows the caregiver physically restraining one child by the arm while instructing the other child to retaliate by hitting the child.
