A caregiver was observed alone in a classroom with 14 children aged 2 years old. This was corrected when the second caregiver returned to the classroom.

A caregiver reacted to children in care, by grabbing their faces to get them to listen.

746.2805(3) - Prohibited Punishments - Grabbing and Pulling

A caregiver grabbed a child by the face, causing small bruises to the face.

746.1201(1) - Responsibilities of Employees and Caregivers -Demonstrate Competency, Good Judgment, Self-control

A caregiver did not use self-control when disciplining a child. the caregiver grabbed children by the face in an aggressive manner to gain their attention.

746.4003(b) - First Aid Kit - Supplies Not Expired

First aid kit supplies wa expired. This was corrected during the inspection when the items were removed and discarded.

746.1205(a)(2) - Responsibilities of Caregivers - Know number of children responsible for

One caregiver stated that they had 6 children in care but there were 7 children in the caregivers room. I explained to the caregiver that they must always know how many children that they have.

746.201(5) - Reporting Suspected Abuse, Neglect, Exploitation-May not delegate responsibility to report

An allegation was brought up to staff about suspected prohibited punishments being used and this was not reported as required. I spoke with the staff about how to make a report and gave them the intake phone number for future reports.
